La Cala de Mijas
A vibrant and amazing old fishing village ramped up to a modern but still
very Spanish town situated on the Costa del Sol, Malaga. Its amazing landmarks
such as the tower near the beach or the nearby "El Faro" working
lighthouse you will be sure to be amazed by the charm and the friendly nature
of La Cala De Mijas.
Nearby is Fuengirola which houses more of the modern shopping experiences
you will be accustomed to such as the Miramar shopping centre with Go-Cart
Track, cinema and a whole host of trendy shops and stores selling everything
from electric gadgets, mobile services, cloths, novelty gifts and a huge
Carrefour Supermarket. Dining is available in the centre too and the cinema
plays "VOSE" which means Original Version Movies in English for those
of you that do not speak Spanish. Nearby riviera del Sol, Calahonda, Puerto
Banus and the infamous Marbella are all very close and can be reached by a
network of buses driving up and down the coast. The train line finishes at
Fuengirola which connects the airport roughly 30 minutes drive away from La
Cala.
The town has a relaxed feel and even though you can get in party mode
does not have the typical "stag and Hen do" feel, clubs and bars open
late all year and especially in season to accommodate your drink needs and if
you find yourself in full top gear Fuengirola offers everything your drunken
antics desires until silly O-clock in the morning. Taxi to Fuengirola cost
approx 10 euros. For those of you who like a quiet few drinks and something
great to eat you can pretty much be on the very same strip and be in one of
those bars. Trendy Gin bars and classy places line the streets and the food is
usually excellent. There is a local Irish bars that plays live music as does
the smallest nightclub known to man with the best atmosphere ever locally known
as legends. Don't let the "small" put you off it is ample for a great
party and the staff are fantastic.
Places to visit>
The cultural and stunning city of Malaga is just 30 minutes drive away,
Puerto Banus with its famous marina and very other car Ferrari look. Mijas
pueblo (please do not ride the donkeys) stunning full without question
traditionally Spanish town with stunning views and tended gardens, quaint
streets and amazing Ice - cream. Marbella, do I need to tell you? okay, in my
opinion the old town is one of the most stunning places on the coast however if
you're a party person you know the rest! La Cala de Mijas is a great base to
visit all these towns and be in a stunning location to live , work or holiday,
Golf
La Cala Golf, Santana Golf, Miraflores Golf, El Chapparral and Mijas Golf
all close by. Get on the Lyle & Scott Jumper and knock yourself out!
Eating Out
La Cala de Mijas concentrated into one main strip and off side streets is
completely in abundance with options to eat. Typically, Spanish, English (erm)
Indian, Thai, and let's not forget the Irish Breakfast all available. La Cala de Mijas also houses one of the few
Michelin star restaurants in the area
La Cala de Mijas tropical Mediterranean climate, ot has hot summers (very
hot in peak season) and warm winters. Breezes from the sea make the summer heat
manageable by cooling you down; temperatures average 32 ºC during the summer.
The beaches:
Oh, my lord, to die for a long golden stretch of beach with an array of
bars, cafes and restaurants. Not only that in the new “Board Walk” is now finished
and stretches all the way to Cabopino, a stunning walk ending at Cabopino beach.
This walk is highly recommended. At the beach, the sound of the sea and soft
golden sands are ideal for families of all ages. The market traders line the
streets with their quirky and amazing colour stands selling you their local
made products and typically Spanish gifts.
La Cala de Mijas is ideal for immersing yourself into Spanish culture
